About Spontai

Independent. UK-built. Made for the moments you fancy getting out but don't have a plan.

    Our story

Spontai started as a frustration. London and Croydon are full of independent cafés, kitchens, shops, and pop-ups that get talked about on TikTok and Instagram for a week, then disappear behind the algorithm. The "best of London" lists are stale. Google Maps surfaces chains. Generic AI travel planners default to the same five tourist spots — Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, Camden Market — that anyone who's spent more than a weekend in the city has done a hundred times.

We built Spontai to surface what's actually trending right now, with real source links so you can verify before you go, and a bias toward independent venues that give a place its character.

    Who we are

Spontai is an independent product built by a small UK-based team. We are not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, Google, Apple, or any other social or tech platform. We are not VC-backed. We are not a travel-booking aggregator looking to take a cut of your day.

    What we believe

    • Independent venues build cities. Chains exist; you don't need an app to find them. Spontai exists for the cafés, kitchens, and shops that you'd otherwise scroll past.
    • Spontaneity beats the perfect plan. Most "best of" lists assume you're planning a trip three weeks out. Spontai is built for the Saturday-morning "what should we do today?"
    • Sources matter. Every Spontai recommendation is linked back to where it came from. If a venue closes or changes, you can verify in one tap.
    • Your data is not the product. We collect the minimum we need to make the app work. Read the privacy policy for specifics.
